TenneT is to kick off offshore cable installation for the 900MW BorWin3 grid hub in the German North Sea this month.

Cable-lay vessel Cable Enterprise has arrived in Eemshaven, the Netherlands to pick up the first subsea section of the wire, as reported in last week’s subscriber-only reNEWS.

Prysmian is responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of the connection with the onshore and shallow water sections already installed.

Heerema Marine Contractors will transport and install the jacket for the BorWin3 substation from its Vlissingen yard in the Netherlands to the construction site 120km off Germany next summer.

The BorWin gamma grid hub project is being undertaken a Siemens and Petrofac joint venture, and will connect EnBW’s 610MW Hohe See and Albatros complex to the grid.

It is due online in the quarter three 2019.
