Orsted says 100 of the 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW machines installed at the 1.2GW offshore wind farm.

Orsted has installed the 100th turbine at its 1200MW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm off the east coast of England.

The project will feature 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW machines, with all the units expected to be in place by late summer.

Fred Olsen Windcarrier jack-up Bold Tern and DEME Offshore Sea Challenger vessel continue to install hardware from the project’s turbine marshalling port at Hull’s Alexandra Dock.

Orsted said the majority of blades are being manufactured at Siemens Gamesa’s factory in Hull.

Turbines are 190 metres tall from sea level to blade tip, with a single blade 75 metres long.

Hornsea 1 is scheduled to be fully commissioned in 2020.
