The projects were completed in November and December with the fourth due online in 2020.

Wpd has built and commissioned three wind farms, forming part of a 176MW project cluster in the Castilla y Leon region of Spain.

The three completed wind projects on the Torozos plateau, comprise 39 Siemens Gamesa G132 turbines each with a 3.4MW capacity.

They are El Poleo, featuring 14 turbines, Las Panaderas, featuring 13 turbines and Navillas, deploying 12 turbines.

El Poleo was commissioned first, in November, followed by Las Panaderas and Navillas in December.

The fourth project, Corralnuevo, totalling 42MW, which will also use 12 Siemens Gamesa G132 turbines, will be commissioned in 2020.

The wind farms share a grid connection in La Mudarra, the largest transformer station in the north-east of the country.

Wpd Spain country manager Ralf Ketteler said: “We are very happy and proud of our entire team, which has managed to obtain the necessary permits, secure the financing, build the projects and connect them to the grid within just two years.”

The three operational wind farms were financed by Wpd using 10-year term power purchase agreements.
